17:56:04 dave -> gangs all here
17:56:38 John -> big crowd
18:01:59 Jose -> hi
18:02:31 Jose -> too much noise, daughters listening to tv and playing video games
18:04:51 Jose -> John broke it down pretty well.
18:05:47 Jose -> I am more on use of site not necessariy on looks
18:06:11 Jose -> surfers vs. community members?
18:06:30 Jose -> as a teacher very little resource
18:07:12 Jose -> what happened to the tag cloud
18:08:12 Jose -> WOW K12Online help for newbies was pretty cool
18:08:22 Jose -> on use of ETT
18:09:26 Jose -> 1024 that's a good number
18:09:34 Jose -> Hey Gary
18:09:56 Gary -> Hello Jose
18:11:26 Gary -> I am listening to the conversation today because I want some ideas aboutthe design of a Teacher Convention site I am involved in. Maybe they can remind me of something we are forgetting.
18:11:59 Jose -> Cool
18:12:44 Gary -> For teachers we often have to assume stupidity ;)
18:12:46 Jose -> Forums are pretty complicated. I tend to click on current forums
18:13:48 Jose -> My ETT might be an option
18:14:12 Jose -> A splash welcome page?
18:15:46 Gary -> Agreed - although teachers looking at your website may already have some technology background since they are already looking.
18:16:44 Jose -> WE ARE HERE
18:16:45 Gary -> WITH CAPS?
18:16:50 SteveMadsenOz -> it is safe to assume that teachers using technology have a few skills and are used to exploring
18:17:10 Jose -> used to exploring, or not.
18:18:13 Jose -> As a teacher I probably would not navigate here unless there were pre-identified resources.
18:18:51 JasonR -> Greetings
18:19:41 Jose -> On the air / Status, interesting
18:21:45 JasonR -> Listening in SL
18:22:29 Gary -> Your sites can be confusing - for example Ustream just popped up and apparently I can use that - I was using iTunes before.
18:24:47 JasonR -> Heard that huff
18:24:53 JasonR -> :P
18:24:59 Gary -> You need to be followed for awhile for it all to make sense.
18:25:38 Gary -> That's ok as long as it does not consume new users.
18:27:22 Jose -> One click works for me.
18:29:18 JasonR -> No one told me that!
18:29:25 JasonR -> I thought I only hadda learn it once
18:30:35 Jose -> admin links on top works ok
18:31:34 Jose -> contact link is extra also unless you are logged in
18:34:53 Sloworbit -> Chatroom on the frontpage might require a first time visitor to install plugin,i.e. Java,that could be a turnoff.
18:35:14 Jose -> does twitter block support icons. All text is kind of boring
18:36:12 Sloworbit -> First time visitor,got the link from pownce
18:37:01 Gary -> So Pownce must have worked for Jeff.
18:37:25 Jose -> I guess so.
18:37:36 jeff -> pownce is working so far
18:37:51 Sloworbit -> Also listening to the show
18:38:51 Jose -> 30 sec lag.
18:39:23 Gary -> Keep in mind that this show is not typical of what usually happens during one of the EdTechTalk events Sloworbit.
18:40:41 Sloworbit -> First installed Java for chat room :D ,then fired up screamer radio to stream audio,i gotta be honest this is the first time visiting your site
18:41:00 Sloworbit -> The Power of Pownce
18:41:31 Jose -> OK, gotta run. looking forward to a prettier site ;)
18:42:02 JasonR -> I like tautologies
18:42:11 Sloworbit -> I like the google calendar embed,about time someone uses google stuff
18:42:11 Gary -> Pownce stopped working for me today - Adobe AIR "not supported anymore".
18:42:43 JasonR -> In Soviet Russia, Tech Talks you, Ed!
18:43:10 Sloworbit -> Yeah pownce app breaks everytime Air jumps to another beta,pownce needs more programmers
18:43:32 dave -> Thanks Jason :P
18:43:41 JasonR -> IT speaks to me
18:43:52 JasonR -> IT, info tech. Get it. Wink, wink.
18:43:55 Sloworbit -> Talking Tech With Ed,very PBS
18:44:06 Gary -> Agreed about the Google calendars - nice feature - can save times to your own calendar and then to iCal.
18:44:37 JasonR -> It speaks to me.
18:44:40 JasonR -> IT speaks to me.
18:44:48 JasonR -> Gah, I don't know.
18:45:58 JasonR -> I think whatever Dave doesn't want to do, Jeff should try. Isn't that how things get done?
18:46:52 John -> I think Jeff usually jumps in first.
18:49:34 Sloworbit -> Nothing wrong with a Paypal link either
18:54:24 JasonR -> We should ask other folks who have tried that
18:54:31 JasonR -> THinking of some of the podcasting networks
18:54:45 JasonR -> Wonder how willing they would be to share their business model
18:54:58 Gary -> You have a very complicated community. Some of you are very heavily involved (content and the webcasts) others of us use you as a source of education that we can't get elsewhere. Much of that will depend on how much time you have.
18:57:04 John -> yeah. good point, Gary.
18:57:37 Gary -> I am one of the ones that depends on the others.
18:57:42 Gary -> Thanks!!
