Welcome to this week's EdTechTalk (ETT) Newsletter! The webcasters, under the direction of Jeff Lebow, have been busy learning how to stream and record both ends of a Skype call. Webcast Academy interns will meet on Tuesday, August 18, at 9pm EST and Thursday, August 20, at 9pm EST to practice streaming and discuss interviewing techniques. You can still join the Webcast Academy and participate in the weekly Tuesday and Thursday night sessions by visiting the Webcast Academy website. Jose Rodriguez works with the webcast academy interns who speak Spanish at the Academia de Webcasting and facilitates conversations in Spanish at the Puentes Al Mundo website. Webcast Academy grads can move on become one of the fantastic show ETT show hosts!

Don't forget that Maria Knee and Jose Rodriguez need help putting together the K-12 Online Conference. Let's start submitting proposals! The deadline is this Sunday, August 16th. Click here to submit your proposals.

In this newsletter, 'Teachers Teaching Teachers' invited two New York City teachers and two library media specialists on their show for a lively conversation about the summer institute of the New York City Writing Project. The 'It's Elementary' show hosts discussed summer professional development activities they participated in and shared a song written and sung by Kevin Honeycutt called "Love Them and Let Them Go". For this webcast, Paul Allison and Susan Ettenheim invited two New York City teachers, Cheree Himmel and Crystal Gaskin, and two library media specialists, Karen Levy and Michael Dodes, to meet Chris and Ron and to be welcomed into the Teachers Teaching Teachers/Youth Voices community of educators. At the time, these teachers were a day away from finishing a 3-week Summer Institute with the New York City Writing Project.

EdTechTalk is a community of people interested in the use of technology to improve teaching and learning at all levels of education throughout the world. As a Worldbridges community, it embraces the values of collaboration and inclusiveness. The primary activity of the community is the production of a number of live, interactive webcasts. These programs cover a wide range of topics relating to educational technology. Shows are typically streamed live, and listeners can interact with one another and the show hosts through a text chat. Recordings of the shows are released as podcasts. Participation in the community is encouraged for anyone who has an interest in educational technology.
