Week of September 12 - 18, 2009

Welcome to this week's EdTechTalk (ETT) Newsletter! This past week saw the return of ETT show hosts to the EdTechWeekly show that airs on Sunday evenings at 7pm EDT. John Schinker just returned from traveling to Africa with the Teachers without Borders-Canada team. The EdTech Weekly show hosts were together for the first time since taking a break for the summer and were in rare form. If you missed the live show be sure to download the podcast - you won't want to miss this episode! Be watching for an announcement about a new format and time for Women of the Web, WOW3 debuting soon!

K12Online Conference co-convener, Jose Rodriguez, and the K12Online Conference Live Events Committee have been busy coordinating things for the first live event that will be held at EdTechTalk on September 26, 2009 from 2pm EDT to 5pm EDT. Excerpts from past presentations will be viewed followed by a conversation with each presenter. If you are new to the K12Online Conference this will be a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the K12 Online Conference and prepare for the actual online conference that will be held in December 2009.

EdTechWeekly #134

John is back from his travels to Africa with the good folks from Teachers without Borders - see http://www.teacherswithoutborders.org/. Catch the recording of our first post-hiatus full crew episode here - http://edtechtalk.com/EdTechWeekly134, and join us next Sunday night at 7:00 ET for our next live show covering all the latest news and resources in education and technology.

On this episode of Teachers Teaching Teachers, we talk about important changes (improvements, we hope) that we’ve been making to our Drupal site for students, Youth Voices.  We invited teachers who are using Youth Voices this year. Listen to find out what how they are planning to use this social networking site with their students this coming year.

Conversations #47 September 13, 2009

Today's Conversation with Maria and Lisa was about parent teacher conferences. Once again, Ginger Lewman joined us. She has been thinking about making changes to the approach her school takes to conferencing with parents. We hope to have Sheila back with us next week.

This show was a great kick off to a new SEEDLINGS year! Join us as Beth Holmes discusses her letters to the President.

EdTechTalk is a community of people interested in the use of technology to improve teaching and learning at all levels of education throughout the world. As a Worldbridges community, it embraces the values of collaboration and inclusiveness. The primary activity of the community is the production of a number of live, interactive webcasts. These programs cover a wide range of topics relating to educational technology. Shows are typically streamed live, and listeners can interact with one another and the show hosts through a text chat. Recordings of the shows are released as podcasts. Participation in the community is encouraged for anyone who has an interest in educational technology. Participation may take many forms, from simply listening to shows produced by the community to more actively working to produce and distribute content for the network.
