Week of December 5 - December 11, 2009

Welcome to this week's EdTechTalk (ETT) newsletter! This has been the first week of the k12Online Conference which will culminate in a Fireside Chat with the keynoters this Saturday afternoon. Joyce's keynote was delivered for the Getting Started strand. Her keynote, which heads up twelve other presentations, was entitled, "Wizard of Apps or Will they have an app for that or What we are loading (and learning) along the road" and was probably the only student produced keynote I have ever seen.
Konrad Glogowski's keynote, heading up thirteen presentations in the Leading the Change strand, was entitled, "Self-driven and Classroom-based: Professional Development in the 21st Century".
Both Joyce and Konrad are scheduled to participate in the first Fireside Chat for week one of the k12Online Conference 2009. Popularised by FDR, Fireside Chats provide a synchronous element to the asynchronous conference. They are an opportunity to experience and discuss together the ideas and concepts put forth in the keynotes for each strand.
The second week of the conference will again culminate in a fireside chat on January 9th. This chat is scheduled to avoid the rush of the holidays.
