Welcome to this week's EdTechTalk (ETT) newsletter!

NOTE: The ETT Newsletter Team is planning to take a short break over the holidays and will resume our weekly newsletters on Saturday, January 9, 2010. That will give all of us a chance to take a breath and get caught up on some of the back webcasts that we haven't had a chance to listen to yet. Happy Holidays from your Newsletter Gang: (Peggy George, Kim Caise, Lisa Parisi, Lisa Durff)

In spite of a very busy week for everyone, there have been many exciting opportunities for learning and professional growth this week! The Edublogs Awards ceremony held online in Elluminate was a fantastic celebration, and lots of fun for everyone. Parents as Partners Episode # 32 December 3, 2009
Cindy Seibel show host shares her masters work with Matt Montagne and Lorna Costantini. Cindy developed a parent portal implementation guide. From the guide, Cindy explains:

There is a significant body of research demonstrating the contribution of parent engagement to student learning. Based on this research, school districts are implementing technology solutions to support and improve relationships with parents with the hope of producing improved student outcomes. This project created an Implementation Guide for one technology solution, a K-12 Parent Portal. The question what is a parent portal surfaced and Cindy responded to the question with the following video. The challenge to all of us is to review the guide and then take it to parents and school boards to embrace and implement.

Dave has a fun conversation with Doug Symington and the chat room about the last five years in education and technology.

This podcast, co-sponsored by the New York City Writing Project and the NWP Technology Liaisons Network, featured:

Conversations #56
What happens when a homegrown webcaster has too many things going on during the same time period? She thinks that she already posted a show but realizes (finally) that she didn't. So here it is, the November 22, 2009 show. Sorry folks. Lisa, Maria and Sheila discussed the issue of dealing with a very "chatty" classroom, where the noise level is high but productivity is good. Later in the show, Diana Laufenberg, from the Science Leadership Academy in Philadelphia joined the conversation and talked a bit about Educon2.2.

Liz Davis on 1 to 1 Teacher Professional Develoment
A conversation with Liz Davis about integrating technology into the curriculum with a 1 on 1 professional development.  Read more about Liz's ideas on her blog or at the ISENet NING.
