Week of February 6 - 12, 2010

Welcome to this week's EdTechTalk (ETT) newsletter! There were some fantastc shows this past week including another K12Online Conference Echo hosted by Susan Van Gelder. Susan interviewed Chris Walsh and led an exciting and informative discussion in the ETT studio. If you missed that session you will definitely want to listen to the podcast or watch the recording of the session.

The start of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada began Friday with an awesome celebration of athletes from around the world. Inspiring stories of the athletes and their journey to the 2010 Winter Olympics competitions were shared by the co-hosts providing commentary for the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was also broadcast simultaneously on several uStream and youtube channels. It will be interesting to watch the Olympics coverage to see what technological advancements will be used to share coverage of the events around the world!

Matt Montagne, along with several ETT community members and show hosts, has led planning sessions to prepare for the upcoming 2010 Earthcast webcast. It is not too late to join forces to help out this worthy cause to promote awareness of Earth day and conservation efforts. Stay tuned to the ETT calendar for future planning sessions.

The ETT newsletter committee would like to extend a special thanks to Lisa Parisi for her dedication and participation in sending out the weely newsletter. She is moving on and Jackie Gerstein will take her place on the committee. Welcome Jackie!

EdTechTalk is a community of people interested in the use of technology to improve teaching and learning at all levels of education throughout the world. As a Worldbridges community, it embraces the values of collaboration and inclusiveness. The primary activity of the community is the production of a number of live, interactive webcasts. These programs cover a wide range of topics relating to educational technology. Shows are typically streamed live, and listeners can interact with one another and the show hosts through a text chat. Recordings of the shows are released as podcasts. Participation in the community is encouraged for anyone who has an interest in educational technology. Participation may take many forms, from simply listening to shows produced by the community to more actively working to produce and distribute content for the network.
