: Hello All!

: a small 10%
: Dave... Yahooo!
: Thanks Doug
: the camera does add....
: hi Gary
: Hello - just listening and seeing how this works - have been listening to edtechtalk for awhile and never got on before while there is a webcast.
: well... welcome aboad
: gotta a skype id?
: gotta headset?
: Yes, it has become a staple of sorts
: That is a good thing
: sort of - my ipod earphones and cheap mike that I could plug into my imic.
: that'll work...
: give us a few minutes
: we'll get you in
: For what?
: you did say you wanted to see how it worked...
: up to you.
: What would you like to know - I am just learning to use podcasting at a high school - not much to tell or discuss.
: Hi Steve
: post show starting soon...
: skype 'worldbridges'
: I'll skype after the show.
: show over
: Is the webcast academy still looking for interns?
: Another Canadian!
: We still have room for a few more interns Paul...especially motivated ones :)
: I am going to be busy for the next few weeks, i work on the Census and its Census time!
: canadians are cool
: But will then be free(er)
: Sounds good
: Say Jeff. I meant to tell you that our first webcast for Spacecast is going to be on friday.
: Great. What time?
: I had tofinish the yearbook and that class before i could set a date.
: Well, I think it will be 2:30
: Can you post in on The Webcast Academy Calendar?
: Or is this a 'public' webcast?
: Yes, and I will be planning the agenda tomorrow
: Is it OK for 'non-spacers' to tune in?
: I mean everyone is welcome
: but the spacers will be the only ones on it for the first cast
: they will be the only ones running it
: anyone can call in
: I will host along with a student live
: The class will be there live and I thought I would video the class during the cast
: One student will be the student leader so to speak
: I will use a slitter for the mic on our end
: so we can both talk
: send two mic inputs into my computer
: then arrange some people ahead of time as special guest to call in
: I am still deciding how to put the storyboard together. I will be asking for feedback this week on the planned schedule
: Sounds really good Lee. Let us know if you want to do any system checks beforehand. I'm sure some fellow interns could be around to check things out.
: Sure Jeff. That would help. So do you like the name ?
: I have audio imputs on botht he front and the back of my computer. I have used two headsets in one skype session.
: It worked well
: I am thinking of asking Kathy to be on of the folks to call in from Chicago.
: She will be getting kids into personallearningspace so she would be a good call in
: Paul, I have a mac so i thought I might use an maudio mic pre box with two xlr ins then send it to the mac
: I guess the pc has two ins?
: front and back?
: Paul, what might you do for your webcast?
: Dave, Rex has a great deal of experience though. My class did a brief podcast about their experiences during a fetal pig dissection. I gave them a bit of warning about what they might say before asking them to speaking.
: but that's two different conversations
: for students... and for people who are doing it 'professionally'
: in the debate between 'podcasts' and 'webcasts' as mediums
: Front and back, yes.
: True - good education takes some "pondering time."
: It totally worked fine.
: i prefer the impromptuness of this medium
: hmmm, I am sure that i don't have two sound cards
: I think that my webcast would be like a brainstornming session for trainers and educators.
: RE remote podcasts. We've had good luck w/an Olympus audio voice recorder. Costs about $60.
: No problem with the webcasting - it appears to work well for those that are comfortable with it but podcasting in a classroom may need some editing before making it available to the rest of the world, including those that make decisions about continuing (administrators).
: A place where trainers and educators could meet to think out ideas, exercises
: They could bring problems and we could hash them out to find a solution.
: Still thinking about it though....
: What model of the Olympus voice recorder?
: Some are not Mac compatible - the Olympus DS-2 is - the vn-960 is not.
: Will create a wav file. We drag to Audacity to edit.
: It would be interesting if I could see the wav file on a mac - with Audacity that would work and it is a lot cheaper than the DS-2
: I'm not sure about the Mac....I'll have to try it.
: That would be great - I could stop bidding for the DS-2 on eBay.
: RE podcasting for students and teachers. Take a look at Loudblog.
: I'll try to Skype in...
: I have an accnt with audioblog
: it works well for some things
: It is certainly fast
: and convenient
: Night all
: 'night paul
: I agree - if parents have concerns they should put it where it's visible
: It's ahrd to game when the other person is asleep
: Thanks Everyone
: Thanks Steve
: Night all!
: thanks all, have a great night
: Thanks for putting up with me
: Good night
: or morning :)
