Over the past few months, we have been discussing Facebook and its use as a way to connect parents to the classroom. After several tries at ning and drupal networks we we are settling on using our Parents as Partners Facebook Group [2] will reach parents in a venue in which families are interacting. We often face the ever constant rejection of this social networking tool with a often adamant expression." I absolutely will not allow my student - my child to use Facebook. It is our hope that if more people could see what it looks like to have a Facebook profile they would be better equipped to support their children in the digital world in which their children are growing up.
We have scheduled an interactive session using a platform that would allow people to actually see what a Facebook profile looks like without signing up for a Facebook account. Nick O'Neill from www.allfacebook.com [3] will join us to walk us through some of the privacy sessions and how to protect yourself using Facebook. Please mark February 23, 2009 at 8:00 PM EST (GMT-5) and join us in a free session in a virtual classroom.
