This July, Paul Allison and Julie Conason fascilated a 3-week Writing Project Institute for teachers where we used VoiceThread as the focus of one of our weeks together. In the middle of our work with teachers, we invited Steve Muth, co-founder of VoiceThread, and Colette Cassinelli, a technology teacher near Portland, Oregon who started a wiki that collects examples of VoiceThreads.

Audience and collaboration

In the interest if spurring my students' motivation to write through providing them with authentic and interactive audiences, I'd like to collaborate with any high school teachers across the seas. Hawai'i is the most isolated archipeligo in the world and I'm interested in exploring ways that a wiki might be used to further student collaboration. Thanks, Marc murdockenglish.wikispaces.lcom

Paul Allison calls in from the airport in Atlanta on the way to Nashville for the annual meeting of The National Writing Project and Susan Ettenheim, Teb Locke, Madeline Brownstone and Lee Baber host a conversation about this week's challenges with students and online communication and collaboration. Sharon Peters shares her first adventures as her students join in the online conversation. Teb shares a very exciting discovery about introducing the mapping projects into the wiki.
