EdTechTalk Community Development
Lee Baber - our friend.
Lee
Baber reflected all the things that make the Edtechtalk community a
fantastic place to live and learn. She was fearless, forgiving and
giving. She would spend hours trying to help people get to the places
they wanted to go, go far beyond what could be expected of any friend
or teacher, and do it all with a smile. She was our friend... and we'll
miss her. Please share memories or thoughts of Lee on VoiceThread or by
commenting below.

EdTechTalk Mission
What is the mission of EdTechTalk?
The mission of EdTechTalk is to provide opportunities for people to connect and collaborate to promote innovative and sustainable uses of technology to support learning.
Governance and Management
What do we want to post here?
Paul Allison
The notion of a "community of communities" is an important one for me. I appreciate being able to tool-away in my own virtual studio and still connect at times with others who are also producing content.
I think it's time to start getting grant and foundation support for this work.
Provide ways for webcasters/podcasters to get compensated for some of the work that is being done.
John Schinker
The sense of community. There's this group of people with similar ideas and challenges, and they're more than willing to help each other.
I think we can be overwhelming and uncoordinated. No one can be on top of everything that's going on, and different things are important for different people. That makes it hard to organize in ways that are valuable for everyone.
Move beyond the technology and focus more on the teaching and learning.

the community. I've learned so much since I first started listening and made great connections with folks from all over.
can't think of a thing. Just wish I had time to get a webcast going.
have a face to face meeting of the whole ed tech talk community. Loved it when I got to sit in on WOW 2.0 live from NECC last year. Any plans to meet up or broadcast live this year at NECC?
Deborah Goodman
The professional development I have received since being introduced a year or so ago. Also, The connections I've made with others through this community and been so valuable.
Can't think of anything that frustrates me at this time,,,most of my problems are usually solved by surfing the site for help
Matt Cronin
It helps me identify and develop tech resources for my school. (ex. Moodle, Drupal, etc)
I feel like it is trying to find an identity. This is getting better as the shows become more defined.
I'm afraid if I put something here, I might be asked to help implement it.

EdTech Weekly.
I don't have the time to be fully involved.
Somehow involve retired teachers - some of them have skills that may be useful to the community.

the open community
not really having a role
getting PD credit, creating a distance learning course-possibly for $ to pay the ETT bills

If we could link with Steve and his conversations so they don't compete
if parent council meetings could be broadcast hoe about any meetings at a School
look and feel - moderating content on site - my current job as project facilitator
pd possibilites
and what ever else you can talk me into

The supportive , interactive community that is alive 24/7! This is my best professional development.
Frustrates and challenges me, are the changes happen all the time. Sometimes I feel like I don't keep up.
FOr example, ustream still has not made it on my computer for me to host. It will this summer.
Present more at workshops sharing with students!
JasonR
ETT Weekly. But I liked it better when it was a little slower, more commentary, less rapid fire. Just don't have time for other ETT programs though.
As an informal educator without direct connection to the classroom, I appreciate the perspective of classroom teachers. ETT helps me better understand what educators are dealing with/excitied about/frustrated from.
It's a choose-your-own-adventure in there. Nature of the beast, perhaps. It just seems like there are a lot of corridors, empty chat rooms, half-conversations to get lost in. I don't know what the answer is, especially with it being a community.
I am still very interested in macbridges, sciencebridges and virtualbridges. It's just tough getting the time to do them justice. Feel bad about leaving them suspended.
Doug Symington
...that it is a values-based organization that has a culture of inclusion and "getting things done"
that we've not done as good a job as we might in terms of "institutional memory" and developing a culture related to
perform streaming for services at conferences, meetings and events
matt montagne
Making connections...learning cool things...the learning support network and friendly nature of everyone in the group. exchanging ideas and making them better through the creative group process....and having fun of course!
we'll, the technology is always a challenge, but that is the way it is. While a challenge, it also keeps things fresh and interesting.
Webcast academy model for students! Actually stepping students through this process...could be scary, could be interesting!
