12:44:16 dave -> hi alice
18:48:54 Gary -> Hello
18:49:00 JenM -> Hello! Who is Gary?!
18:49:58 Gary -> I am a semi-retired teacher from southern Alberta - often sign in on Sundays to follow what you are doing - I like the show.
18:50:31 JenM -> Oh, hello! I thought you were my teacher, but I'm happy you are here, too!
18:51:04 Gary -> Your teacher - how old do you think I am?
18:51:23 Gary -> Not that you are very old but I teach high school.
18:51:56 Gary -> Ok
18:52:13 Gary -> About Nigeria mostly because I taught there.
18:54:47 dave -> wow...
18:55:35 Gary -> And Dave seems to have a special interest in the use of computers there.
18:56:50 dave -> he certainly does
18:57:21 dave -> I'd very much like to see good educational outreach programs
18:57:38 dave -> sadly (and perhaps necessarily) they are mostly political adventures
18:58:53 Gary -> True but Nigerian students can use any help it can get - being a member of OPEC does not mean that students benefit much.
19:00:38 Gary -> He has the dryer on every week?
19:01:07 Gary -> Frozen here
19:01:59 Gary -> The towells if you hang them up outside. Also the sound comes and goes.

19:05:15 sharonp -> scratchy....
19:05:20 sharonp -> Jen herself sounds great
19:05:29 sharonp -> enthusiastic and the rest....

19:05:57 sharonp -> I am still excited!
19:06:17 sharonp -> am loving this not 30 second delay
19:06:27 sharonp -> no
19:06:39 sharonp -> scratchy

20:07:51 John -> I think the every six hours thing is temporary
20:08:05 sharonp -> need to get back to editing ... night all!
20:08:08 John -> good night, alec. Thanks
20:08:09 JenW -> they are all using fake names??
20:08:21 Kern -> hmmmm.
20:08:32 thespian70 -> I know that Arthus does, don't know about the rest.
20:08:44 John -> Arthus is the one who said he is
20:08:46 JenW -> so arthus is not arthus??
20:08:51 Durff -> one of my students found my professional blog merely by doing a search - so obvious it's difficult
20:08:55 Gary -> It will be interesting if our school district filter blocks the site. I will try in the morning. There may be a need for teachers to ask for it to be unblocked.
20:09:01 JenW -> won't we learn his real name at educon 2 or NECC??
20:09:07 Durff -> arvind the UberGeek?
20:09:29 JenW -> and if they are blogging correctly -- why are they worried about college views?? why would this affect them negatively??
20:09:31 lee -> http://youthbridges.net
20:09:42 thespian70 -> He's listed as Arthus in the presentor section of Educon
20:09:47 JenW -> and I like the NEW look .... :)
20:09:51 Durff -> just your face is enough
20:10:09 Durff -> all minors should use pseudos
20:10:54 JenW -> Will each of you be blogging under the different tags??
20:11:10 thespian70 -> I do't think there's a thing wrong with the kids using pseudonyms
20:11:37 Durff -> i'm enjoying my lebkuchen too much to comment right now
20:11:44 sroseman -> neat concept guys ..way to go ..what do your teachers think
20:11:47 Gary -> Do they want teachers to promote it or do they want us stay away from that - might not be a good idea :)
20:12:08 JenW -> I don't think that there is something wrong with kids using fake names........I am wondering what they might be saying though that would negatively affect college options
20:13:12 Durff -> with present laws in USA they almost have to use pseudos
20:13:40 Durff -> not that they say anything wrong
20:13:43 John -> Jen: I think they just want to share opinions openly without having to worry about future ramifications
20:13:54 Durff -> it's the court system that does
20:14:13 JenM -> Thank you!!! I
20:14:28 Durff -> Denada
20:14:39 JenM -> I have been muted as my husband is watching TV ...
20:14:45 JenW -> do they want the voice of adults on their blog posts??
20:14:49 JenM -> bye!!
20:14:55 sroseman -> Classroom2.0 .. Student2.0 should naturally evolve
20:14:59 Durff -> at least he is out of the closet
20:15:08 Durff -> bye all!
20:15:11 Gary -> Thanks again.
20:16:12 jeff -> Thanks all
20:16:16 JenW -> good night
20:16:23 lee -> jenw
20:16:27 JenW -> lee??
20:16:33 lee -> hi
20:16:37 JenW -> hello!!!
20:17:11 lee -> do u have a link to the post you had so many comments on?
20:17:18 JenW -> yes, let me grab it
20:17:46 JenW -> http://technospud.com/blog/?p=129
20:17:57 John -> Thanks for putting up with all of the audio issues early on, everyone.
20:18:03 JenW -> no worries
20:18:05 lee -> i never could find it
20:18:11 JenW -> really???
20:18:13 lee -> thanks jen
20:18:16 JenW -> it was 2 weeks agao :)
20:18:18 JenW -> ago
20:18:40 JenW -> david's comment really got it going, I think
20:18:40 lee -> i read about it during that time but i could not go back to where the link was
20:18:43 John -> *gasp* -- Jen has a new theme
20:18:48 JenW -> yes, I am CHRISTMAS
20:18:58 John -> I started twittering after that post
20:19:10 JenW -> really?? good -- I do like Twitter
20:19:14 JenW -> I was just using it incorrectly
20:19:20 JenW -> and got my feelings hurt a bit
20:19:25 JenW -> but that was MY FAULT
20:19:42 John -> I'm still not sure how to use it -- that line between updating people and boring them to tears
20:19:45 lee -> Yes, feelings get downtrodden quite often
20:19:56 JenW -> John -- this is how I am using it now
20:20:02 JenW -> I am limiting myself to 5
20:20:07 JenW -> unless there is SOMETHING I have to say
20:20:18 JenW -> I limit myself to 55 following
20:20:20 John -> 5 per day?
20:20:31 lee -> the power of twitter is one thing....
20:20:33 JenW -> yes, I was doing up to 40 a day
20:20:37 JenW -> ridiculous
20:20:49 John -> Okay. I'm not deep enough yet. I'm doing maybe 5 a week, and only following 8-10
20:20:49 JenW -> and I don't small talk anymore on twitter
20:20:55 JenW -> but I do it in direct messages
20:21:03 John -> do you reply to people? that gets confusing
20:21:04 JenW -> but that is MY ruling
20:21:26 JenW -> I do reply @
20:21:34 JenW -> but use direct message more
20:21:37 John -> Cool. Can I blog about Jen's rules for twitter?
20:21:42 JenW -> OH yes
20:21:48 JenW -> and --- do you know the BIG thing I did??
20:21:53 JenW -> but again -- this is just me
20:21:59 John -> You moved because there's no snow in Corona
20:22:00 JenW -> I blocked TWITTER at my work
20:22:05 JenW -> LOL -- that is right
20:22:08 John -> *blink*
20:22:17 John -> You're the oppresive man, now
20:22:18 JenW -> I had to turn off twitter because it was distracting me
20:22:38 JenW -> but again, that is how I am dealing with Twitter
20:22:40 John -> I can see that, even with skype and rss to some extent
20:22:53 John -> wait -- you blocked it, or you just turned it off for your machine?
20:22:54 JenW -> John -- do you like the new theme??
20:23:07 JenW -> John -- I blocked it -- well, I asked my cohort to block it.
20:23:21 JenW -> I need to learn how to use it in moderation. :)
20:23:23 John -> it's okay
20:23:28 John -> the theme, that is.
20:23:31 JenW -> My name is Jennifer and I am a twiteraholic
20:23:35 John -> Looks good, actually.
20:23:45 John -> I don't like the spam karma footer -- I turn mine off.
20:23:54 JenW -> I need to remove that still
20:24:00 JenW -> am still working with editing the theme
20:24:01 John -> I'd use it if it looked nicer, but I don't think they care anyway since they're no longer developing it
20:24:10 lee -> twitters strength and success lies in knowing how to ask a good question.."What are you doing right now?"
20:24:34 JenW -> smiles -- what are you doing educationally right now??
20:24:42 JenW -> What I want to know -- what I want people to really share
20:24:43 John -> I do like twitter for letting people know about things that are happening right now that they may be interested in.
20:24:49 John -> And for asking quick questions maybe
20:24:55 JenW -> is how they are getting their teachers to use tech........and not just sharing how they use tech
20:25:03 JenW -> I want to see success stories
20:25:11 JenW -> and not just possible ideas
20:25:14 JenW -> does that make sense??
20:25:20 John -> hmm... yes.
20:25:22 lee -> What? You don't care what color socks I'm wearing?
20:25:30 JenW -> OH -- Lee, of course I do
20:25:34 John -> But more about opportunities for connecting
20:25:36 lee -> whew
20:25:42 JenW -> you are part of my 55
20:25:43 JenW -> :)
20:25:44 John -> lee's not wearing socks
20:25:58 John -> See -- that's more pressure, Jen.
20:26:00 lee -> Oh john... don't tell
20:26:06 JenW -> John - you are too
20:26:07 JenW -> :)
20:26:09 John -> Now lee has to feel like she has to live up to her spot on the Jdub 55
20:26:18 JenW -> nope -- no living up
20:26:23 lee -> Indeed.. a wonderful pressure to have
20:26:27 JenW -> :)
20:26:44 John -> See -- jen -- I'm honored, but I don't think I deserve the slot yet
20:26:47 JenW -> I am dwelling on a blog post right now about show me your successes
20:26:50 lee -> i like some pressure.. or tension
20:26:56 lee -> keeps me honest and learning
20:26:57 JenW -> ahhh John -- you deserved it from day 1
20:27:03 John -> Blogging is enough pressure for me.
20:27:06 JenW -> you have encouraged me -- that is important
20:27:14 John -> Wait -- people are reading this now? I have to actually have something to say.
20:27:21 JenW -> LOL
20:27:24 John -> Don't waste people's time -- that's probably rule #1
20:27:33 lee -> Valuing one's own voice
20:27:38 JenW -> honestly #1 -- say it in 140 words
20:27:42 lee -> John's lesson #1
20:27:44 JenW -> not 140 X 10 twits
20:27:53 John -> 140 characters
20:27:56 JenW -> yep
20:28:00 JenW -> 140 characters
20:28:16 John -> Okay. I tweeted it.
20:28:18 JenW -> maybe that is where people have it wrong - they think 140 words :)
20:28:33 John -> I can do 140 characters or 1400 words. I can't do 140 words.
20:28:37 lee -> I hate counting characters
20:28:56 lee -> yahoo does that.. its irritating
20:29:20 lee -> with tweet i just let it cut me off
20:29:37 JenW -> hey arthus - or whoever you are :)
20:29:43 arthus -> hi Jen!
20:29:46 lee -> same feeling when my cell phone loses signal
20:29:48 John -> Again, I'm not in deep enough. I've never had a problem. I think of them in terms of single sentences anyway
20:30:13 John -> Hey, it's the man claiming to be arthus! -- thanks for joining us live for the launch
20:30:21 lee -> Ar u ar(th)u s
20:30:37 JenW -> you know you have given me a challenge now -- to discover your name
20:30:42 arthus -> yes, I am the arthus :)
20:30:50 lee -> but are you?
20:30:58 JenW -> we will never know -- will we
20:30:59 arthus -> yes in deed.
20:31:03 John -> Why? Does it matter? You don't know my real name either, and it doesn't bother you.
20:31:08 JenW -> and what do you mean IF YOU GO TO educon??
20:31:15 JenW -> Oh no -- you are not JOHN??
20:31:23 John -> How would you know?
20:31:23 arthus -> meaning I may decided to reveal it at EduCon
20:31:31 lee -> I am JenW
20:31:36 JenW -> and I am LeeB
20:31:41 John -> I used to give my 8th graders stats about the web.
20:31:53 JenW -> John -- I never thought of that -- you might be Jane Schinker
20:31:54 lee -> on?
20:31:57 John -> The average web user is a 35 year old guy (this was a while ago).
20:32:18 lee -> average now is a 35 year old woman
20:32:21 John -> Then, we discussed the implications for all the 13 year old girls they appear to be talking to on aol
