Sometimes it takes a converation like this one to let you know that we need to share our successes and trials with our bigger network. We all have good ideas, good solutions and when we talk together we offer better solutions for problems that we are all experiencing. I hope you find the nuggets in this conversation. Seedlings.

This week our guests were Kathy Cassidy from Moose Jaw SK , a grade 1 teacher, Leah Welch from Hamden Maine, a grade 1 teacher and formerly a kindergarten teacher, and Amanda Marrinan from Brisbane Australia who teaches 6 and 7 year olds. These teachers do amazing things with their students - blogging, video, moodle, google docs, and more. Kathy, Leah and Amanda shared their practice and talked about the details in how they make things work. The time flew as we all listened to the stories of their work with young children.

Passions were discussed this week. Maria Knee and Lisa Parisi discussed passions other than teaching with Alice Mercer, Scott Shelhart, and Pat Hensley. Since our passion is talking, we didn't always stay on topic but the conversation was rockin'.

This week Alec Couros joined us to discuss teacher education and creating an open course for pre and in-service K-12

Aurelio Montemayor from the Intercultural Development Research Association joined the show. Aurelio described a definition of a valued parent leadership, Interent for poor folks without computers and which social media to surf. The chat room was actively engaged in responding to Aurelio's thought provoking approach to parent involvement.

- Farisa, 10th Grader at East-West School of International Studies, Flushing, NY, NY
- Hannah, 11th Grader at Science Leadership Academy, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- Lindsea, 12th Grader at Punahou School, Honolulu, Hawaii
Paul Allison, Alice Barr, and Gail Desler stayed out of the way as much as possible.

Homework was the topic of Conversation this week. Maria and Lisa were joined by Linda Nitsche and Lee Kolbert and lots of folks in the chatroom. Many opinions were expressed about the purpose and reasons for giving homework. We looked at this topic from a teacher's and as well as a parent's point of view. The chat room was rockin' so don't forget to check out the chat log from today's show.

Elizabeth (Lizzy) Berryman, Director of the PBS Teacher Center in Virginia and Chris Sloan, a high school teacher in Salt Lake City, Utah joined us to talk about a collaborative project between YouTube and the PBS News Hour called “Video Your Vote."

In the second half of the show we help a teacher new to http://youthvoices.net set up a group and register her 7th graders on Youth Voices.
EdTechTalk is a community of people interested in the use of technology to improve teaching and learning at all levels of education throughout the world. As a Worldbridges community, it embraces the values of collaboration and inclusiveness. The primary activity of the community is the production of a number of live, interactive webcasts. These programs cover a wide range of topics relating to educational technology. Shows are typically streamed live, and listeners can interact with one another and the show hosts through a text chat. Recordings of the shows are released as podcasts. Participation in the community is encouraged for anyone who has an interest in educational technology. Participation may take many forms, from simply listening to shows produced by the community to more actively working to produce and distribute content for the network.
