Last week, Teachers are Talking featured Sharon Peters, who came to discuss Teachers without Borders. This important program sends teachers to various parts of the world to assist school systems that are in need of support. Sharon told hosts Lisa Parisi, Cheryl Lykowski, and Susan van Gelder about her trip to Africa. She then reminded us all that the Give 1, Get 1 Laptop program is running again. You only have until November 26th to participate so hurry out to buy yours.

Our show was all about an interview with Lisa Thumann, senior technology specialist from Rutgers University and a Google Certified Teacher. Lisa talked about Personal Learning Networks, Collective Intelligence, and of course all the many links Lisa shared with us.

Vanessa Van Petten is an author and entrepreneur that Vanessa gave tips and advice for parents.She talked about how to get parents online for the first time and described kid's Internet lives form their perspective.

This week's topic was about attending conferences. We asked and discussed why do you go to conferences, what do you gain by going to a conference, and wandered off track a bit to share experiences. We were joined by Lee Kolbert and Arvind Grover in the skype call as well as many others in the chat room. Arvind shared information about the unconference model from his first hand experiences.

EdTechTalk is a community of people interested in the use of technology to improve teaching and learning at all levels of education throughout the world. As a Worldbridges community, it embraces the values of collaboration and inclusiveness. The primary activity of the community is the production of a number of live, interactive webcasts. These programs cover a wide range of topics relating to educational technology. Shows are typically streamed live, and listeners can interact with one another and the show hosts through a text chat. Recordings of the shows are released as podcasts. Participation in the community is encouraged for anyone who has an interest in educational technology. Participation may take many forms, from simply listening to shows produced by the community to more actively working to produce and distribute content for the network.

Dean Shareski, Digital Learning Consultant from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada shares his presentation 'Going Global' with hosts Matt Montagne, Lorna Costantini, Cindy Seibel and resident parent Cindy Zuatcke. What was interesting in the discussions is Dean's approach the subject. He finds it more relevant to emphasize the positive aspects of digital tools, the need for good examples of digital citizenship.

This week our Conversation topic was parents and their role in the school. Lisa and Maria were joined by Lorna Costantini, co-host of the Parents as Partners webcast. The conversation was informative as well as thought provoking. There was a lively chat in our chat room that shouldn't be missed.
