Week of September 5 - 11, 2009

Welcome to this week's EdTechTalk (ETT) Newsletter! This past week has been eventful for schools in the United States. The week started with the Labor Day Holiday just prior to the start of a new school year for many schools in the United States and Northern Hemisphere. President Obama's "Back to School" webcast aired on Tuesday with much controversy about whether or not to show the webcast to students. Twitter, Plurk and other social networking sites were abuzz about the webcast with many parents, teacher and educational adminstrators sharing their opinions about this historic event. The week concluded with students participating in a variety of events to remember those who lost their lives in the 9/11 tragedy. Check out the show reviews below and tune in each week to hear your favorite ETT shows!

The Week in Review

Conversations #47 September 6, 2009
The announcement of President Obama's speech to students caused many conversations across the US and that is the topic of conversation for today's show. Sheila was visiting relatives in Alabama. Her cousin Laura, a middle school teacher in Indiana joined Lisa, Maria and Sheila for today's show.

Show #1 for the 2009-2010 school year opened with two students from Alice's high school. Unfortunately, Alice forgot to start archiving until about 15 minutes in to the show. Skype was acting up as well, so there are a few hang ups. All in all a great job by the 2 Bens and we look forward to having them on again.

If you would like your celebration included in the ETT newsletter please email us at [email protected].
