Week of October 5 - 10, 2008

Hello EdTechTalkers:

Welcome to the this week's edition of the EdTechTalk (ETT) Weekly Newsletter!

Once again, we'd like to give you a friendly reminder about the K12 Online Conference. This FREE...yes, free...conference begins next week, with the preconference keynote on October 13th. It is dedicated, in loving memory, to our own Lee Baber. Her thirst for knowledge and belief in helping others learn and grow are fitting qualities for this unique learning opportunity. The K12 Online conference runs over a two week period but goes on forever, as all the presentations are archived. Come hear Vicki Davis' and Julie Lindsay's keynote address which kicks off week two of the conference, on October 27th. Don't miss Jen Wagner and Kim Cofino present "Connecting Classrooms Across Continents: Planning and Implementing Globally Collaborative Projects," which will be posted on October 29th. And be sure to look into the Not K12 Online Conference, which will give us all an even greater opportunity for professional development. You can whet your appetite by viewing some of the teasers for the conference here.

EdTechTalk is a community of people interested in the use of technology to improve teaching and learning at all levels of education throughout the world. As a Worldbridges community, it embraces the values of collaboration and inclusiveness. The primary activity of the community is the production of a number of live, interactive webcasts. These programs cover a wide range of topics relating to educational technology. Shows are typically streamed live, and listeners can interact with one another and the show hosts through a text chat. Recordings of the shows are released as podcasts. Participation in the community is encouraged for anyone who has an interest in educational technology. Participation may take many forms, from simply listening to shows produced by the community to more actively working to produce and distribute content for the network.
