Happy Valentine's Day! Today, we discussed skyping in the classroom and posting student work on blogs. We discussed ways we have used skype to connect with other classrooms; reading to others, sharing via video, and more. When posting student's work to their own blog, do they post their best or show a work in progress? (This conversation stemmed from the Feb. 11, 2010 SEEDlings show.) Does all work get published? What about the varying abilities within the class? We missed Lisa this week as she was on vacation, but she will be back next week. 

This week we discussed iPod Touch/iPhone apps in the classroom. Lisa was unable to join us but we were joined by Amanda Marrinan from Australia. Many of the apps can be found on Maria's wiki at http://classroomipodtouch.wikispaces.com.

What inspries you? What makes your journey great? Sheila, Maria and Lisa and the folks in the chat room respond to the Guilding Stars poster by Peter Reynolds and share who and what inspires them. Sheila also talked about the Earthbridges echo events she did with her students.

 This week, we focused on the haves and have-nots of education and technology.  We discussed those who have technology vs. those who have very limited technology, as well as those that have supportive administration vs. those without.

This week, we discussed passion in education. What makes up passion, how is it related to learning, how is it sustained and how is it related to giving/helping others? Lisa was unable to join us today, but will be back next week. We were joined by Alice Barr of SEEDlings. We also discussed the SEED program in Maine, and how it is perpetuating the passion for many.

What would you do with a magic wand to change education? That was the topic for our conversation this week. It was from a question posed to Lisa by David Warlick. Alec Couros and Paul Bogush joined us. Although we didn't stick to this topic per se, there was much conversation around change in education and school. The folks in the chat room kept thing going as well.

Many opinions were expressed about the purpose and reasons for giving homework. We looked at this topic from a teacher's and as well as a parent's point of view.
