David Warlick and Terry Freedman
were kind enough to drop in at edtechtalk for a chat. It was a wide
ranging conversation with two of the real professionals in the field of
bringing technology to the classroom. Over the 81 minute conversation
we discussed esafety, how to approach the administrators with a new
media plan, ADD and technology, elephant mating practices, the relative
value of a national curriculum, the state of knowledge in the world
today and a bunch of other neat stuff.
A great discussion with Barbara Ganley. Barbara discusses her experiences using blogging with her students and shares her insights into the use of new media and social software in the classroom. For the first time during a webcast we are joined by a remote classroom, as Will Richardson and his Executive Ed.D class at Seton Hall tune in early on. This is also the first time we used teleconferencing as a webcast listening option. All in all, a successful webcast of technical experimentation and great edtech discussion.
EdTechTalk#23, part 2 November 3, 2005 the discussion continues as Harold Jarche joins in with Jay Cross & the EdTech Team
Topics included open source initiatives, the Learning2005 conference, and experiments in modern conferencing.

This webcast marathon included a pre-show and post-show. Our pre-show included visits from Vance Stevens who updated us on the upcoming Webheads in Action Online Convergence and Ruth Vilmi who discussed her online activities and upcoming presentation as part of the Nordic Voice Conference. Our 'main' show featured discussions of splogging, open source (free) webcasting possibilities, classroom blogging, and the unclear goals of modern education. Our post show was a fascinating discussion between Buthaina, Ruth, and Sus discussing the job threatening obstacles some educators face using online learning, and the cultural barriers that women in some cultures face in participating in the online world.
