Edublogosphere
To be fair, there were at least 3 individuals posting stories on edublogosphere, but since it was educator driven it's safe to say that the main users of such a service are usually pre-occupied with their classroom duties. I really think that trying to sucessfully launch a service like Digg for strictly education if a fragmentation of the blog-market that would be very difficult to both sustain and maintain from an educator's stand point. There's so much out there, and anyone that would be using such a service is so well entrenched with their own blogline's account or RSS feeds that one more site to post things to needs a large dedicated core of individuals (or one REALLY dedicated individual with no free time) to sustain it.
And no, I'm not the creator of edublogosphere, just one of the 3 users :P
