Drawing on our collective experience, let's share presentation ideas we like ... and the dreaded practices that should never again see the light of day. Some areas to consider: (a) asynchronous tools and strategies, (b) synchronous tools and strategies, (c) soliciting participant feedback (before, during, after), (d) the backchannel, and (e) posting for posterity (how, where, what?)
John's Link: So yes, perhaps we did talk about Wikileaks last week. But it's a big story, and it might be worth another pass.It's interesting how the news media has stretched it, taking a little piece in each news cycle, with "new" revelations, and new scandals. Then, there's the issue of whether they're terrorists, the statements by Senator Lieberman, and (more importantly) the response from the host and DNS providers. Then, there's the whole (somewhat related) issue of the US Government seizing the domains of copyright criminals. Is the wild west finally being tamed? Is free speech on the Internet dead?

What gremlins will try to do to keep Seedlings off the air! At 6:44, edtechtalk was down. I put out an SOS to the Skype network of ETT Hosts. By 6:52, we were live and ready to go, thanks to John Schinker and Dave Cormier! Seedlings went on with Show 100 and our guests Maria Knee and Wes Fryer.Thanks to all who have been part of our 100 Shows.

Dave's Link: Wikileaks. What does it mean for our classrooms? With Australia banning links to the site... where does this lead? Do textbooks of 'controlled content' become more important? Should we be teaching this in courses? Do we have a patriotic duty not to touch this information?

John's Link: Project Red: Do 1:1 right or don't do it at all. We're far enough along now that the novelty of 1:1 programs has worn off, and it's time to look at what effect they really have on a school. With many more schools now looking at 1:1 programs, it's important to look at best practices. For those thinking about 1:1 programs, the CDW 1:1 Readiness Surveyis a great place to start.

The National Writing Project’s Digital Is website is a teaching-focused knowledge base exploring digital writing, teaching and learning. It invites participation in developing this knowledge base in several ways – visitors can find a range of teaching-focused collections and resources here related to digital writing, teaching and learning as well as become community members and participate in discussions. Also, after participating and getting a sense of the site, one can write to us and apply to be a resource creator. Resource creators can draft and compose multimodal resources here, get and give feedback to other resource creators, and publish.

We talked with our friends about the importance of commenting. Over the last several years, those of us who have been building Youth Voices have learned how important it is to teach and nurture commenting, not just posting new posts all the time.

Join the excitement! Digital Is promises to be an important touchstone for communities of learners in the National Writing Project and beyond, and we suspect that the quality of the discussions on the site will soon be as important as the quality of the resources.

With this episode of TTT, we celebrate the launch of Digital Is and to think about the role of commenting in building new communities of learning on this site.
